On February 4th, 2007, the majestic Queen Mary 2 passed under the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time, and made her way into the Port of San Francisco. Despite it being Super Bowl Sunday, people in the Bay Area turned out in droves to witness the ship's much anticipated arrival. On San Francisco Bay, there were hundreds of sailboats and watercraft of every type that came out to greet her and follow her in. In the air, a swarm of helicopters and small planes buzzed to and fro. And on land, tens of thousands of people watched from every vantage point along the way as the stately Queen Mary 2 made her way into San Francisco.
